What Pool Table Assembly & Installation Involves

A slate pool table isn't put together like typical furniture. Assembly may involve building and squaring the frame, positioning the legs, placing and aligning the slate sections, preparing the slate joints, installing the cloth, mounting the rails and pockets, and leveling the table before it's ready for play. Depending on the table and its condition, some of these steps may not apply — a table with cloth still in good shape, for example, doesn't need refelting as part of setup.

The general goal at every stage is the same: a stable frame, a properly aligned and level playing surface, and rails and pockets that are securely and correctly installed.

New Pool Table Installation

If you've purchased a new table and it's arrived in boxes or as separate components, we can put it together on site. This includes assembling the frame, positioning the slate, and completing the setup through leveling and final cloth and rail installation.

Used Pool Table Assembly & Reassembly

Used tables come with more variables. A table might arrive fully disassembled, partially taken apart, or in unknown condition depending on how it was purchased and transported. Before scheduling, it helps to know:

• The table size (7-foot, 8-foot, 9-foot, or other)
• The manufacturer or model, if known
• Whether all hardware and components are present
• Whether the slate is included and in one piece or multiple sections
• The general condition of the frame, rails, and cloth

Moving a pool table typically means disassembling it, transporting the components, and putting it back together at the new location — which includes leveling the reassembled table before it's ready for play. Slate Installation & Joint Preparation

The slate is what makes the playing surface flat and consistent, and getting it right is a central part of setup. On tables with multiple slate sections, each section has to be positioned and aligned correctly so the seams don't create bumps or gaps that affect how the ball rolls. Where applicable, the joints between sections are sealed and smoothed as part of preparing the surface for cloth.

Getting the slate properly supported and aligned is one of the more technical parts of assembly, and it's a large part of why slate tables aren't a simple DIY project.

Pool Table Leveling

A table that isn't level won't play correctly, no matter how well the rest of the setup is completed. During assembly or reassembly, the frame and slate are leveled so the playing surface is flat and consistent. We use a machinist-grade level for this work.

Leveling isn't a separate service — it's part of assembly, installation, or reassembly work, including after a move or temporary relocation.

Refelting During Assembly or Installation

If your table's cloth is worn, torn, stained, or has lost its tension, setup or reassembly is a practical time to replace it, since the table is already being taken apart and put back together. Repairs Discovered During Assembly

Taking a table apart sometimes reveals problems that weren't obvious before — worn cushions, a damaged pocket, or an issue with the slate. If worn cushions, damaged pockets, slate problems, or other repair needs are present, those issues may require separate pool table repair work.
